Fall is the Perfect Time of Year To Visit Holden Beach.

If you haven’t made it to Holden Beach yet, then Fall is the perfect time of year to make the trip and see all that it has to offer. After the blistering heat of the summer passes and many crowds have gone home, the beach still offers so many exciting things to do and see.

Take in the Sunrise AND the Sunset.

Because of the position of the Island, you can enjoy both the sunrise and sunset from the beaches. Especially at Carolina Views, where the back deck offers unparalleled and wide open views. You can sit back in your rocker, exhale and relax as shades of vivid orange, pinks and yellows paint the western sky.

Leave a Letter in a famous Memory Mailbox.

With the heat of the summer gone, enjoy a beach walk to one of three Holden Golden Memory Mailboxes. There is one of the East end and one on the West end …both requiring a bit of a beach walk. The third is located at Sailfish Park, mid-island. You can write a letter, leave a note or just read what others have left.

Relaxing at the Beach.

Not that Holden Beach is ever VERY crowded, the family beach is known for wider beaches that offer plenty of room to spread out. AND, in the fall, there are fewer visitors, making for a peaceful and relaxing way to spend a fall day. The air is not too hot, and you can just grab a chair, sit back, enjoy the breezes and read a book.

Have a Beach Picnic.

If you don’t mind bit of sand in your egg salad, drop your blanket and enjoy the sound of the waves as you munch on your lunch. I can’t think of a better locale for a picnic.

NC Festival by the Sea.

Hosted by the Holden Beach Merchant’s Association, this fun festival takes place every year the last weekend in October. It features local artisans, food items, artisans and booths, and musical entertainment. It’s located at the Holden Beach Pavilion, under the Holden Bridge and takes place October 29-30 from 9am - 5pm.

Fishing in NC.

If you‘re the type who can’t wait to cast their rod/reel, then the Brunswick Islands is a great place to do it. There are several ways to get your feet wet. You can always walk up to the water’s edge, stand in the surf and surf-cast right from the beach. If you’d like a bit more guidance in your fishing adventure, there are several recommended fishing charters. Whatever you decide, please remember your fishing license - Stop by the Rod & Reel Shop on the main causeway to get your North Carolina Coastal Recreational Fishing License (CRFL).

Explore the Island by Bike.

Holden Beach is very ‘bikeable’, offering wider sidewalks, walking trails, hard sand in spots along the beach, nature parks and more. Bring your bike on your next weekend in town. If you don’t have a bike, DON’T WORRY. There are bike rentals available that will deliver and pickup bikes and other equipment. It’s never been easier. Nature, scenery and wildlife abounds on Holden …biking is a great way to explore it all.

If you don’t have a beach rental, or even know where to begin, there are several rental agencies that cover the Brunswick Islands. OR, you can always rent direct from home owners for a more personalized experience. Carolina Views is a 4bed, 3.5 bath home on Ocean Blvd West with unparalleled (and panoramic) views. I (Elizabeth) would love to host you and your group for a week-long vacation or even just a long-weekend getaway.
